Anticipation Guide
Students are provided broad, general statements and must decide whether they agree or disagree. The teacher then facilitates a discussion where students can debate their stances. Students are allowed and encouraged to question their peers and change their stance when swayed by another's argument.
Students should be given time to consider the statements independently before debate ensues. When possible, students may move to either end of the classroom to signify their stances (agree on one side, disagree on the other) and can physically move to indicate a change in their thinking.
